Why Choose Us?
John Van Lunen has owned and operated a watersports business on the Outer Banks since 1997, and is typically on site at least six days a week. He’s a certified teacher, husband, father of three, and a high school lacrosse coach. Helping customers have a great vacation is his biggest priority.
We can’t do anything without a great staff and even though our staff changes from year to year, we believe in hiring individuals who genuinely enjoy serving and helping customers. We’ll take care of you from beginning to end.
I believe in God, ethics, growth mindset, and giving an honest day’s work. Our goal is to help you be the hero of your vacation by making it easy for you to get up and get out. If you’re not happy, I’m not happy. Please let me know if I can be of any service to you.
Primary Location & Variety
The Roanoke Sound in Nags Head is a beautiful place with shallow water and small islands. The area has several nearby destinations to explore. Visitors should be sure to look for dolphins, sea turtles, skates, shore birds, and more. When you’re finished having fun at Kitty Hawk Watersports, we recommend exploring other nearby attractions such as Jennette’s Pier, Miller’s Waterfront Restaurant, The Outlets of Nags Head, First Flight Adventure Park, and Manteo.
Kitty Hawk Watersports is one of the few watersports locations on the Outer Banks with a full complement of activities that include rentals and tours. In addition, we are the only bumper boat operation on the beach. We also have a frozen yogurt shop on-site so you can refuel, share a memory, smile, and laugh.
